Academic Warning

Academic advising

What does Academic Warning mean?

You will be placed on academic warning if, for the first time, you fail to obtain an average of 50% in the courses which you are registered for (as of the last day for dropping courses without academic prejudice) or when your cumulative average falls below 55%.

This means that you are permitted to return to class in the following semester, however, it indicates that something needs to change if you are to succeed. Academic warning remains on your transcript and can lead to a required withdrawal if certain conditions are not met in subsequent semesters.

What should you do now?

  • Contact an academic advisor in the Registrar’s Office to discuss your options
  • Contact student loans or your funding agency to learn about your obligations and responsibilities regarding your funding.

Possible conditions for your return to studies:

  • Scheduled visits to see an academic advisor
  • Required participation in academic assistance programs
  • Restrictions placed on your course load
